Tropical Wonder-Fruit

Ok, so pineapples. First of all, they're totally alien fruit. Honestly, who would look at that coming out of the ground and think, "Yes, I think I'll eat this prickly spiny thing"? Not me. Being land-locked here in Utah you may be unfamiliar with this tropical wonder-fruit, but it's an absolute pain in the ass to cut apart. Especially with a dull knife. After half an hour of hacking earlier tonight, I emerged with a bowl of delicious and a terrifically sticky mess in the kitchen. Suffice it to say my entire mouth with be raw by tomorrow.
